Research Associate

Duties:  Performs laboratory experiments related to the study of myeloma genetics. Serves as team lead for gene expression profiling, which serves as a core component for the Myeloma Institute’s genetic research. Maintains patient tissue samples. Records research summaries and present experimental results to supervisor. Assists coworkers with problem solving with laboratory experiments/research and developing research protocols. Prepares slides for analysis by FISH. Manages storage and distribution of sorted cells, serum, plasma, and biopsies. Orders and maintains supplies. Utilizes a range of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques for gene characterization, cloning, overexpression, isolation and purification.

Requirements:  Master’s degree, or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of biological research experience performing molecular biology and biochemistry techniques; conducting protein expression studies, including characterization, cloning, overexpression, isolation and purification; designing experiments and developing research protocols; developing assays and cell culture.
