A separate 29-bed unit in an
inpatient tower built in 1998 is dedicated to the bone marrow
transplant service. Air in the unit is processed through a
double HEPA-filter system to protect patients from airborne
pathogens. Three rooms are equipped with laminar airflow for
patients who are especially vulnerable to infection. Rooms are
spacious with comfortable seating and windows. The nursing and
support staff are specifically trained to work with the Myeloma
and transplant patient population. Each nurse is assigned to
patients based on acuity and individual needs of the patient.
Our outpatient clinic is housed in the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute. The clinic consists of examination rooms and a
comfortable waiting area. Some patients may be treated in the
Myeloma Infusion Center on the first floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, depending on the stage of their treatment
course. And, other patients who are having transplants performed
on an outpatient basis may be cared for on a special unit
located near the inpatient tower.
Laboratory and diagnostic services are located throughout the
hospital complex. Transportation through the interior of the
complex is available for those who require assistance.
Wireless internet access is available in the inpatient unit and the outpatient transplant unit in the hospital, the waiting area outside the infusion center in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, the clinic and 1st floor patient/family lounge in the Spine Institute.
