Christopher P. Cifarelli, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Christopher P. Cifarelli is a board eligible neurosurgeon whose clinical practice focuses on neuro-oncology, treating gliomas, metastatic tumors of the brain, and pituitary tumors via surgical resection and stereotactic radiosurgery using the Gamma Knife.

Dr. Cifarelli completed his undergraduate and Master's degrees at Rutgers University in his home state of New Jersey.  He earned his doctorate in Developmental Biology & Teratology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA where he studied molecular mechanisms of central nervous system development.  Dr. Cifarelli then received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, followed by a residency in Neurosurgical Surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.  During his training, Dr. Cifarelli completed a one-year international fellowship in general neurosurgery at Auckland City Hospital and Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dr. Cifarelli has authored numerous publications within the fields of neuro-oncology and radiosurgery and continues to perform both clinical and basic science research at UAMS.  His research laboratory currently studies the role of cell adhesion molecules and associated signaling mechanisms involved in tumor cell migration and invasion.
